WESTERN HILLS – CHEVIOT LODGE / THOMAS N THINNES SCHOLARSHIP FUND

The Western Hills Cheviot Lodge-Thomas N Thinnes Scholarship Fund (formerly the Walter C Lackey Scholarship) is an endowment funded by individual donations and  fund raising efforts by the members of Western Hills – Cheviot Lodge 140 and named after our late Past Master, Thomas N. Thinnes, who provided a substantial contribution to endow the fund.  The income from this fund provides grants to deserving  students attending or accepted into an accredited educational program as described below.    The names,  number, and amount of individual grants each year are at the discretion of the Lodge scholarship committee.

Qualifications for this award are:

  • Applicants must complete the required online application.   No other application form will be accepted.   NOTE: Except for essay questions,  if insufficient space is provided on the application form,  list the question number and complete the answer on an accompanying sheet.  Applications may be submitted at any time prior to the deadline of May 1st.

  • The applicant must be a member in good standing,  a child/stepchild or grandchild/step-grandchild of a living or deceased member who is, or was,  a member in good standing of Western Hills – Cheviot Lodge 140 F&AM.

  • Prior recipients of this  or the former Walter C. Lackey Scholarship are eligible receive this grant.

  • The applicant must be a current student or accepted as a student  at an accredited vocational  or trade school,   an undergraduate,  or graduate degree program at an accredited college, or university.

  • The program in which the student is enrolled must lead to a degree, license, or certification in a specific field.

  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of  2.75 on a scale of 4.0.  If another scale is used,  show this in the application form.

  • ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED NO LATER THAN MAY 1ST.
