MASONIC FUNERAL SERVICES

Master Masons in good standing at the time of their passing are entitled to a Masonic funeral service.  As Brothers, we share in your loss and wish to honor him.  If your loved one was a member of our Lodge, please contact, or have your funeral director contact the Lodge Secretary by email using the contact form on this website or email the Secretary,  secretary@whchev140.org or calling or texting 513-214-1658 to arrange for this ceremony. A three to five day notice is usually needed for us to assemble a group of members.  Many funeral directors are familiar with Masonic funeral services and can guide the family

It is traditional that the deceased Brother be buried or cremated with his apron.  If your loved one was a member of the Scottish Rite, also known as a 32nd degree Mason,  he should also have a gold ring associated with that membership. If he did not have it on his finger,  it can be identified as a plain gold band marked with a triangle. It should be removed from his finger and  saved as there is a presentation ceremony associated with this ring.  It is normally presented to the eldest son,  wife, or best friend of the deceased.

For those considering financial tributes in lieu of flowers on behalf of their loved ones,  Western Hills-Cheviot Lodge #140 sponsors a scholarship fund, the Western Hills-Cheviot/Thomas N Thinnes Scholarship Fund which provides financial awards to deserving students.  We also support a Charity Fund which makes donations to various service organizations and charities in the community and provides  direct assistance to individuals in need.
