RELATED MASONIC ORGANIZATIONS

Related Masonic organizations, referred to as  “appendant bodies”,  have grown from the roots of the basic three degrees of Freemasonry.   Master Masons in good standing are welcome to petition for membership in  these organizations.   Each of these organizations also have their own degree structure rich with traditions.  All have one goal:  to lead men on the road to moral and spiritual rectitude.

Freemasonry is a family affair so women are and youth  are  a vital part.  The Order of the Eastern Star, and Order of the Amaranth are open to all Master Masons and their female relatives.  Youth organizations, DeMolay, Job’s Daughters, and Rainbow Girls are open to any interested boys, girls, young men or women regardless of Masonic relationship.  You can see a complete chart of the “family” of Masonic organizations, all of which stemming from the original three degrees of Masonry, by clicking on this link:  CHART OF FREEMASONRY AND RELATED MASONIC ORGANIZATIONS

Below you will find links  to national or local websites for these organizations.  There you may find information on their location, missions, activities. and qualifications for membership.  It should be noted, however, that there may not be local chapters of some of these organizations within Cincinnati or Hamilton County, Ohio.

YORK RITE

  YORK RITE OHIO

The Degree of Royal Arch Mason is founded upon the destruction of the first and the building of the second Temple. The ceremonies of the Degree have an interesting and graphic historical setting, and a profound and reverential moral significance. The Royal Arch Degree is the complement of the Master’s Degree, the unfolding into a second volume of the history of that which was lost to its final recovery. Without the Royal Arch, the Master’s Degree is like a song half sung, a tale partly told, or a promise unfulfilled. All Master Masons in Good Standing may petition for membership.

The Order of the Eastern Star was founded by Dr. Rob Morris in the late 1800’s. As a Master Mason, Dr. Morris had the idea that it would be nice to have a way for female relatives of Master Masons to share the benefits of knowledge and self-improvement that Freemasonry made available to men and to have a place in the Masonic Family that would allow men and women to participate together. Open to both Master Masons and women related to a Master Mason.
